Hi all, sorry for the stupid question but I previously had an issue and I just wanted to make sure I’m doing the right thing.

I have an iPhone XS that I am trading in (sob) for the iPhone 13 Pro. The XS is currently on 14.8. I have done a back up to my computer and the essentials are all in the cloud.

Previously I wasn’t permitted to restore because one of the devices wasn’t on the proper operating software (don’t recall if it was the computer, the back up or the new phone). Given that I am wiping the phone and leaving it behind, I want to make sure this works.

Will I be ok to restore the new phone from this back up if the new phone is on iso 15?

Thanks for your patience.

Yes that’s perfectly fine. Newer versions of iOS can restore data from older iOS backups - but not the other way around. You also can’t install a lower version of iOS than the one that shipped with your iPhone. For the iPhone 13 series, they all have to run iOS 15 or higher.
