I came from an old iPhone 8 Plus and finally replaced it last weekend with a 14 Pro Max. I pretty much understand how it works since I have an iPad Pro 2018. However, trying to swipe down from the very bottom for reachability is a lesson in futility much of the time because many apps have buttons down at the very bottom, and I end up just activating a button function of the app.

With my iPhone 8 Plus it is so easy to double tap the home button for this. I also hate not having touch ID. What is keeping someone from just holding my phone up to my face while I'm sleeping to get in?? Anyway, I digress..

My question is, is there an option somewhere for a 'virtual bottom bezel'? A virtual bottom bezel would take up a bit of room, but the phone is so long vertically it doesn't really matter. It would be real nice to have a virtual bezel so apps cannot extend to the very bottom of the screen, therefore allowing me to much more easily swipe down for reachability without hitting any buttons I don't want to activate.

I still cant figure out why Apple doesn't add an option to activate reachability with a double-tap on the home-bar on the bottom of the screen. It would work so much better than the stupid swipe-down method

I use back tap as a method to invoke reachability. It’s under accessibility settings

Try putting your thumb on top of the bottom bar, and instead of swiping up to go to home, swipe down.

I believe these edge to edge UI is even more annoying if you have cases on, since cases with thick lips will make the swipe movement on the edges harder. This is why I keep the traditional virtual buttons for my Android instead of going to swipe gestures.
