Earth (for now)
I think the iPhone 14 Plus is a great addition to the line. The mini was a favourite of some, but that was only a small minority, so I'm not surprised it's gone. Having a bigger 6.7" non-Pro model is a much more attractive idea for the masses. In fact, that was the one I was considering getting for my wife, to upgrade from her single-lens iPhone XR.

However, that was partially predicated on the idea that the iPhone 14 Pro Max could get a price increase. The fact that it didn't get a price increase in Canada (or the US) makes the idea of getting the iPhone 14 Pro Max instead of the iPhone 14 Plus more reasonable than some were predicting.

Plus the wife is asking for the Pro Max anyway. Don't want to disappoint the wife... ;)

Honestly though the only improvement of the Pro Max over the Plus is the camera system. We don't really care about any of the other differences:

Camera - Yes!
ProMotion - Meh
Always-on display - OK that's nice, but less critical than the camera improvement
SoC - I don't care, aside from the new image processor that supports the new camera system
Dynamic island - Meh
1000/1600/2000 nits - Meh
ProRes video - Meh
Battery life - Already is quite decent on the Plus, but I guess it's better on the Max
LiDAR - OK, it may help the camera but otherwise I don't know anyone personally who has a use for this

BTW, the pricing on the iPhones is around 5-8% more expensive in Canada, but I guess the good news is we still get the SIM tray, in addition to the dual eSIM support.

I feel the same, Canada got off easy this year. No big price increase and no losing SIM slot.

I would have hoped pricing was more in line with US pricing but Apple Canada has baked in a cushion for themselves for currency fluctuations for many years now. I guess that prevents the situation where a drop in the Canadian dollar makes the pricing cheaper than in the US. That has happened in the past with Macs.

Anyhow, I wouldn’t be surprised if the iPhone 14 Plus is the #1 best selling iPhone after October, in most countries.
