Thinking of getting the pro. Hopefully the camera is on par with the Google Pixel 7. Last 2 years i bought iPhone pros only to return for pixel phones. Just doe the camera. Nothing else.

I found pixel camera photos are better particulate the true skin tone and night sight features.

I actually want to keep the 14 pro this time..

Hopefully it stands up to the pixel camera

After watching the Apple event regarding the iPhone 14 pro camera, it turns out that you get only the 48 megapixels resolution when using Apple ProRAW. Otherwise the sensor will use a quad pixel arrangement to blend for pixels together at a time and give you a finalized 12 megapixel image. The iPhone 13 promax wide camera has an F ratio of 1.5. It looks like the new camera on the iPhone 14 Pro is 1.78 which led to an even less late but they say it Ledson more like I’m not sure how that is lol

It's because the sensor is bigger, so at the end the light captured is more than 13 pro max, BUT the lens is even wider (24mm) and it was too wide already (26mm) Some years ago it was 28mm, but it keeps getting wider and wider everytime to make it possible to have a bigger sensor in small package... I would like a phone with equivalent 35mm primary sensor and 20mm wide angle (and maybe 70mm zoom).
This year it uses a crop from the main sensor to deliver a decent 2x zoom using the central part of the 48mpx, but not enough...

Agreed, 24mm is ridiculous for a “standard” lens. The iphone 4-6 had 32mm ff eq which was the closest we got to the golden 35mm focal length. I actually quite enjoyed the 28mm too but like you stated, it just keeps getting wider each year. I would love to see the distortion of just everyday close up images on this new setup.

I believe if I recall the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max had slightly different camera modules - does anyone know if they are now the same or does the Pro Max still have a better camera? I was considering changing to a Pro this year instead of the Max so it's a bit more portable!

Both Pro models have identical camera systems, as they did on the 13 Pros as well, it was just the 12 Pro that had the different sized sensors.
