iPhone 14 Pro arrived today. Very happy with it, coming from a 12. As this is my first Pro phone (and first with macro photography) forgive me if this has been discussed to death but I couldn’t find an answer.
So when I was signing in to my banking apps, one wanted me to take a photo of my driving licence as ID. The camera view opened in the app but it would not focus. Obviously when taking a photo in the camera app it will switch to the ultra wide for macro shots, but there was no option to change which camera captures within this banking app. My partner also got a 14 Pro today and reported similar issues taking photos of barcodes in the “scan and shop” app - again nothing close up would focus.
So is that just the way it is now? You need to use the camera app to trigger the ultra wide for macro photography? Or are we doing something wrong? Can we manually trigger macro mode within another app’s camera view?
