So I took delivery of my 14 Pro Max a couple of hours ago and I've noticed that when opening an app from the App Drawer and then swiping the app away, the App Drawer is sized incorrectly and overlaps the top line of the phone. Swiping away and back fixes it, until next time. Happens whether you swipe away a native or 3rd party app. I updated to 16.1 Developer Beta 1 and the problem remains. Just a heads up, I assume it's gonna be like that for everyones phone, which I'm surprised Apple let this slip through.

Let me guess, you restored from a backup, right?
I did a “transfer” from my old phone but I don’t see why that should carry over some sort of setting that would cause this. I get your point but I’d expect the OS to work around this. I’m not wiping it and starting again lol

Sorry, I don't really have an explanation for this, but in previous years, every time I would restore or transfer from an old phone, it would cause all kinds of display glitches. Not always and nothing major, but still annoying. That's why I only set up as new.

Question. Just because I've never transferred from an old iPhone to a newer one before (recent Android => iPhone switcher).

Is setting up as new feasible for most people? Can I restore sms, iMessage and whatsapp messages after setting up as new?

Yes, all your SMS, iMessages, WhatsApp messages, Photos, Health data, Watch data (etc.) are restored once you sign into your iCloud. Obviously, your iCloud has to have synced with your previous iPhone at least once.

The only downside of setting up as new is that you have to re-download each single app manually and set up each app all over again. Also, you'll have to re-arrange your apps as desired, unless default order is your thing.

Never had any display issues when transferring from backups. This is a definitely a bug in iOS 16/16.1. I think it might be the dynamic island to blame.

As I said, it doesn't happen to every iPhone. But you're probably right, in this case, it has something to do with the switch from Notch to Dynamic Island.
