The arrogance of these people is astounding. Even after all these years.
So, bit of a long story but…
Apple contacted me today and they basically said that their engineers didn’t know what was causing the camera lag issue. They put me through to their after sales team to arrange a replacement device; the problem with this was that they wanted be to send back my current device immediately while I waited for a new device for a potentially long time. I explained it was a bit unreasonable for me to be without a phone for possibly about a month and they said they would get back to me at a set time.
In the meantime I went into my local Apple Store and, luckily, they had a unit in stock. They exchanged and my current unit has no camera lag issue.

Same here, my new 14 pro has zero issues with camera!
Just received my replacement device and there is no more camera lag.
That’s good if it fixed it. I’m gonna wait for the update then if it carrys on look at getting a replacement device.
Update 16.0.2 didn’t fix my slow camera app

I ended up returning the Pro for the Pro Max yesterday and the Max doesn’t have the issue.
I showed the guy at the Apple Store the issue when returning the pro and he said he had not seen that issue before 🧐
Ah. The tried and true, typical response from them in store. Lol
I think I got it fixed. Did a chat with Apple support and they advised me to a setting reset and so far the camera seems to be working fine now.
Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
Reset All Settings: All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
I’ll leave it like this for a little to see if it still works.

I tried factory reset my iPhone 14 pro max, downgraded to iOS 16 from iOS16.0.2 doesn't help to resolved the slow camera issue.
I installed iOS 16.1 public beta 2, finally no more camera slow issue. i can launch the camera instantly now.

Just got off chat with tech. He did a screen share and saw this issue. After all that he said they are aware of this issue and will be addressing it in the next update.
I just tried this factory reset on my 14 Pro Max and it did not fix my camera issue.
