Why would one stay on the Beta? I would think you should move to the latest 16.0.1. My GPS seem very accurate and it even seems to lock onto my position way faster than my 13PM did.

Because I don’t want to go through the trouble of downgrading and not having a restore point for something that will be fixed in a day or two most likely.

Also, I’m sure you know but it sounds strange up there. You know 16.1 is newer than 16.0.1, right?

iPhone 14 Pro here, running latest 16.1 developer seed and have had no problems with GPS. I’m based in Canada, though - wonder if that matters.

Tested in Google Maps, Maps, compass, and Uber.

(Used the native migration assistant transferring on top of a brand new phone from an iPhone 13 Mini running 16.1)

Wondering if this is while you are moving? I only ask because mine finds me pretty well, but does not follow along while I’m moving. Sporadically, but not consistent. Re-routes constantly thinking I’m somewhere I’m not.

Isn’t Dev beta usually an update ahead of public betas? I’m on the public beta 16.1.

At least that’s how it used to be. Maybe it’s different now.

They can get out of sync, but the current public beta and the most recent dev seed are the same version (I think). My OS build # is 20B5045d.

I used Uber and Google Maps while travelling (two separate instances) and didn't notice any problems. I'll update this if things go south. Pardon the stupid pun.

Good luck. There is no guarantee they will fix, but I understand your concerns.

If you can downrev and fix it on the same hardware, they will fix it lol. they’re not going to screw up something so significant and then just say “well, that’s that.”

Yeah, was released Wednesday of last week, so could be this week, or only two more before next release. Assuming next release fixes it, beta, so never know.

This is probably a dumb question but since I’m going to wait this out, can I run Maps on my Series 7 watch for directions independent of my 14 pro?

Made an account just for this.
Uber Driver
iPhone 14PM
ios 16.1

all maps, gps, etc. are basically useless. I’d be screwed if I didn’t know my way around my city well enough. And to put the icing on, since the GPS won’t lock on, Uber never starts any of my waiting timers.

I wouldn't be using a beta software if you're relying on your phone for your job. Even if it wasn't the gps, there is always other stability issues
