Just been to the Apple Store, apparently they don't and can't apply a screen protector on the 14 Pro series? as not "trained"

Anyone else had this experience?

You should thank the rep for saving you money. You can buy the glass and installation kit for less than $3 on AliExpress.
not really as I bought the belkin self kit in-store, just wanted to clarify if I am being lied too?

14 Pro's been out for 3 months, and they don't have the ability to apply them?

It's the more the fact is it true or not? I'd rather go back to the Apple store and get it done there - I just feel like I've been fobbed off because they couldn't be assed doing it.

How does a trillion dollar company not have the ability to apply a screen protector to their flagship phone?

Yeah, it just sounds like they couldn’t be bothered. Sad.

Talk to a manager there?

There's likely the alignment jig they don't as yet have, or haven't been trained to use yet? Or...couldn't be bothered! Any of those could be true.

Edit: missed the bit with your self applying kit. From memory (long ago) the store applied/ supplied protectors only fit those jigs?

What did they say when you asked why they wouldn't or couldn't do it for you?
When you come to a forum with an issue, it would be helpful to fill us in on the issue.
All we've seen so far is complaints about this.

You bought the self install kit…emphasis on self install…they sell the install-in-store protector for the same cost that a specialist will use the machine/jig to install…have had those Belkin kits in store since launch…specialists cannot and will not install the self-install kit, but will gladly sell and install the Belkin protectors with the in-store machine/jig

Yes, it's what I alluded to in my last reply.

So I'm quite sure now that the Belkin self-install kit doesn't work with the jig they use for store-installed protectors. Think I asked this at a reseller some 6 yrs ago. Probably what staff meant is that they haven't been trained to install those free handed. But who knows..we weren't here 🤷‍♂️

I bought a Belkin UltraGlass screen protector from them and they installed it for me. It took them three tries to get it without dust but they just kept returning the ones with dust and opening new ones until they got it right. I tried a couple of the install kits and never could get one completely without dust. Maybe my house is extra dusty? Yeah, getting them to do it is more expensive than doing it myself but for me, it was worth it.

Same, 3 weeks ago, immediately after buying and inspecting the phone's screen. We agreed will run with it until it's perfect, fortunately 1st time round.

6 yrs ago different story with 7 goes over a few months as they had bad batches. And yer tried the "steam-in-kitchen" trick at home but was always an unwanted dust bunny present. See the alignment jigs now sold with screen protectors (as posted in this thread) and seems to make it so much easier.

Every screen protector I tried to do myself was with one of those alignment things. I tried three different brands and I could not get away from dust 100%. It does make it easier to apply them but it doesn’t solve the dust issue for me. I hope this screen protector lasts the life of this phone.

Oh was it, I've never tried them before. So even in a large, sterile looking Apple environment it was 3rd time lucky for you. I also view it as a one time purchase to buy and have it applied in-store. A trapped dust speck would drive me nuts tbh. But it's now my 2nd iPhone in 6 yrs so I do want it perfect from the get go.

Never had this issue. Not sure what they told you but they do have one for the 14 pro series. Could it be possible that they are just telling you they are out of stock? I know at one point, I happen to be at the apple store and I overheard one of them being out of stock for the 14 pro's and the other one also mentioned about they had to send all of them back to a defective batch.

It remains a mystery until the OP clarifies what was meant in post#3 with:

If that's just the customer self application kit and the OP wanted staff at Apple to fit it, that's quite different to them not fitting (or able to) from their store batch with a jig. So who knows, perhaps there's more to the story.

Even if OP did purchase the self install kit to take home. If purchased via apple.com, they actually can do a return/exchange for the one to do them with the machine.

Now if OP purchased somewhere else and wanted Apple do install it with those machine, they definitely will not do it. Has to be purchased through apple.com or directly from apple.

no such issue. I didn't intend on having it done at apple myself but I was already there to get a keyboard and I was having QC issues with the Spigen ones I got for it. I got mine in October and they installed it no issue
