Woke up this morning (24 Oct 2022) to find my brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max totally dead. It had been sitting on a max safe charger puck overnight - I woke up at 0200 and the thing was totally dead. Tried using the cable - and left until 0900 - still totally dead. Have reported to Apple and have an appt with local store tomorrow (thankfully still have my old device - 13 pro max). Anyone else have the issue?

You tried hard reboot? Press volume up once, volume down once (quickly) then press and hold power button for at least 30 seconds.
Definitely try this trick first before making a trip to the apple store. There are few reports about this happening and doing this method brought back to life. I don't think it's completely dead if you had it on the magsafe charger all night.

When you get it up and running update to 16.1 which should be available today I believe.

May take an entire day but yes, several reports of this happening and the phones fine after. May be a glitch or something else.

I had the same exact thing happen to me yesterday. The hard reboot trick worked and it's acted like nothing ever happened since. Hopefully 16.1 will resolve this from happening again.

Thank you for posting - I just had the same issue - and thanks to all the respondents with the solution.

I have had this happen to me twice in the past two weeks. A hard reboot, after several tries, fixed it both times. But I don't want to have to do this every two weeks.

Did this happen after upgrading to 16.1? I’m curious if 16.1 fixes this issue. I haven’t charged overnight since this happened to me within a couple days of getting my 14PM.

Not yet. 16.1 came out 2 days after the last incident and I have updated to it. Hopefully, 16.1 fixed the issue. I'll let you know in two weeks. Fingers crossed.

Same happened to me, hard reboot fixed it. Guys at T-Mobile store said it’s a glitch in the current software

Apple seems to have fixed the issue. I have not had this happen for me since 16.1 in late October.

My wife's 14 Pro Max was updated to 16.1 when it was released two days ago. This morning her phone was totally dead. I told her "hold my beer, uh, coffee" and did a hard re-boot. The phone restarted and I put it back on the Mag Safe to finish charging.

Same issue this morning with iPhone 14 Pro and iOS 16.3.1, completely dead after charging overnight. So apparently Apple still hasn't fixed it. Can't find anything recent in the logs.
I moved to a different outlet, charger, and cable, and then attempted the forced restart at least a dozen times, with the hold-power-button part at 60 seconds. It would not restart until it had been re-plugged in for over an hour after the first restart attempt. Apple support told me to leave it charging after forced restart attempt for at least an hour and then try again.
