iPhone 14 Pro Max vs 13 Pro Max:

battery improved or not?

the iPhone 13 pro max was an obvious big increase in battery life from the iPhone 12 pro max

but will the iPhone 14 pro max have a big increase of battery life too?

It’s better than my mini but I’m honestly not that impressed by my 14 pro battery.

unfortunately you will need to turn off AOD to get the same battery life as the 13 PM but even then the 13 PM is still slightly better.

most of the 13 PM users were saying that the 14 PM has no difference or even worse battery life than their previous iPhone.

must be the iPhone 15 Ultra will get the big battery jump.

So far this is what I’ve noticed as well. The 14 Pro Max is losing around 5% extra compared to the 13 Pro Max. Although given the insane battery life of the 13 Pro Max last year I’m not sure if the extra 5% would be a cause of concern for the majority.

The battery test videos are also incredibly wild, some show 14 Pro Max being slightly ahead, some show 13 Pro Max slightly ahead while others show them to be about the same etc… Honestly the end conclusion I have is that you will still get great battery life with either, as at the end of each battery test the consistent conclusion is that both give you far better battery life than competing devices, it’s literally Apple vs Apple when it comes to premium smartphone battery life.

exactly.

was just thinking the 14 pro max will get a longer battery than 13 pro max

the same way the 13 pro max has longer batter than 12 pro max

yep, tho 13 PM over 14 PM is a good suggestion for someone into battery.

After a few days I would say my 14PM battery is not quite as good as my year old 13PM.

I assume that things will get better after a few OS Updates.

Can you all please check if Facebook is doing a lot of background activity?

I’m seeing it doing nearly 3hrs worth, and I’m not sure what it’s doing. Seems like others are seeing this too since iOS 16.

About as good as the older model, is not acceptable for a new $1000 or more phone sorry. No excuses.

I have the 14 pro.

For me I noticed the 14 Pro Max has tad slightly better battery life than the 13 Pro Max thus far. This is with AOD turned off.

Has anyone noticed any additional battery drain while shooting on their 14 Pro Max’s camera compared to the 13 Pro Max?

I haven't take many pictures on my 14pro but on the 12 mini the camera sucked battery worse than any other phone function.

didnt they increase the battery mah, and the newer chip should even be more efficient isnt it?

Battery capacity was slightly lowered for the 14 Pro Max compared to the 13 Pro Max. Yes the newer A16 chipset is theoretically more efficient.

How are you guys getting worse battery life? Pretty much almost every speed test I see, the 14 Pro beats the 13 Pro almost every single time. And same goes for the Max model. If they don’t, it’s about equal.

I came from an 11 Pro Max and I’m using a 14 Pro, I’m getting about similar battery life as my 11 PM, and that phone was regarded as a battery beast in its day. I’d honestly even say my 14 Pro is lasting even a little longer. I end the day around 50% give or take. I average 4-5ish hours of SOT. I do have AOD off and I’m on WiFi most of the time, but that’s easily trending 8-9 hours SOT.

Are you guys just very heavy users or play games or is it your primary device? Because for me the battery life is amazing, and I’m just not seeing speed tests online where the 13’s are reliably beating the 14 series in battery life.

Maybe it’s an iOS 16 thing?

12/13 pro has no context for me since I never owned one but I’m not getting the advertised battery life or what any of the initial phone tests were getting. Not even close.

The battery drains very quickly for example if I spend much time on this or another forum. I can’t watch a % tick away. I don’t remember this being a problem on my X or XR, although I’m sure it was. I’m not getting the amount of screen time with normal usage as I expected. Cellular only is even worse and I have WiFi 90% of my usage.

The battery increased in size and the chip is supposed to be more efficient in the 14P. Maybe the screen isn’t as efficient? The screen is certainly wonderful. I have not been using AOD, I don’t see a need for it, and it produces light when you go to bed. It’s certainly better than my 12 mini. That things battery drained super fast. I think the battery of the 14P has gotten worse since the first few days/week.

I mean I’m the only person noticing, Forbes and several tech blogs are talking about it, and I thought something was off before I went a looked for information on others experiences.

My 13 PM went almost a year at 100% battery life and my brand new 14 PM is already at 98%. Definitely worse. I’m turning things off in the lock screen for now. AOD is off.
