r/iphone - IPhone 15 Pro Main Camera (Vertical Lines showing up)

On Wednesday, my main camera was still working fine with no lines. However, I woke up on Thursday to the main camera displaying many vertical lines. (My phone seemed to also have updated overnight to 17.4.1).

Issue only appears for main camera. Zoom and Ultrawide cameras do not show these lines.

Is this a hardware/software issue? What should I do?

I would restart the device and if that doesn't work I would restore the device using iTunes or Finder.. Apple will have you do the same so you're just getting it out of the way. If neither fix the issue a visit to an Apple Store will be necessary so they can check the camera hardware for issues

Are you seeing this effect in all apps? Camera, Messages, FaceTime, etc?

Call or chat Apple for a remote diagnostic before restoring; if that shows a hardware issue then restore is unnecessary. But, my guess is a software issue since it just occurred after the update.

I now have this problem, is there a solution? I have done the soft reset, turn off/on still the same. It only happens on the two middle setting. What will I have to reinstall if I do a reset? I have Apple Pay set up and mostly use Face ID rather than know so many passwords, will all that disappear? Running latest version of Apple. Cynic in me finds it odd that the week a new phone is announced this happens!

I had mine replaced under apples warranty, they said it was faulty lens, i.e. a hardware issue!

Thank you I will get myself to an Apple Store quickly, as the warranty runs out on 28th September. I did brace myself and do the harder rest yesterday, no difference. I have reinstalled the Wallet and a couple of sites that needed updates for my Face ID to work again.

Apple Store replaced the lenses, phone camera now working. In warranty so no charge, out of warranty looked like it would have been nearly £183. Warranty runs out on 28th. So glad it went when it did.
