iPhone 15 pro max with IOS 18 cannot setup FaceID

Been trying to set up FaceID. Updated to iOS 18.5 a few days ago — and boom — FaceID just stopped working. Total disaster. I’ve been trying to fix it for 4–5 days now. Nothing works. I’ve watched dozens of YouTube videos — total waste of time. I’m not backing up and reformatting — that’s crazy. Apple should never let this happen. Very bad design. Anyone else having this problem? Any real solutions?

You're definitely not alone, iOS 18.5 seems to be causing FaceID issues for quite a few users. A couple of people mentioned that doing a full reset of FaceID settings (not the whole phone) worked after multiple tries. Also, check if any security or profile settings were silently added post-update.

Still, I agree, this shouldn’t happen on a flagship device. Hopefully, Apple patches it soon. Hang in there!
