Hi,
I have a question for the owners of ip15 pro. I would like to buy ip 15 pro black (now I own Xs) but I am afraid of scratches. (bad experience with ip 5 black) Do you have problems with them?

While it's probably the color most prone to scratches given the contrast between the black PVD coating and the raw titanium underneath, I don't think that it will be too much of an issue. Just don't get anything sharp near it and you should be fine.

I had the same thoughts and finally I ordered dark blue pro max and storm blue silicon case. I like dark colored phones and I will not buy white/natural only because their scratches are less visible

If you purchase a good case you won’t get any scratches. Just make sure you actually remove the phone from its case once per month to clean it out otherwise lint buildup will cause abrasions to the sides and wear out the paint.

Have a black iPhone 14 pro with a caudabe sheath case. Both phones have a pvd coating. ZERO issues for over a year with the stainless steel and coating. Take the case off multiple times a year and clean and rinse the case with dishwashing soap to clean it and wipe my phone down with screen mom and a microfiber. Looks brand new. The right case makes a big difference. Cheap cases will damage your phone. iPhones without cases risk multiple damage situations. Accidents happen regardless of how careful you are.

Thx for your exp...
I've read from other threads and it doesn't seem to be a problem soo Iam going to the black one! :)

If you use a case the argument is probably moot. I'd be interested in the experience of those going caseless. I have the pro in natural but have decided that I want the pro max (battery and just my ageing eyes)

The blue was my preferred colour but I chose the natural as I really liked it too and as I go caseless it felt the safer choice. Having said that, it is not like say the camera visor on the new Pixel that will get contact often, the edges should not really get that much abuse even caseless. Unless you drop it of course!

Are you afraid of the scratches upon using it or when you unbox the phone for the first time? Both are plausible and have happened. If you’re afraid of scratches developing, then use a case with it. If you’re afraid the phone is scratched before even using it, exchange or return it to your carrier or Apple directly if you can.

Just be aware that scratches can develop when putting phones into cases, and taking them out of cases. There are instances of these occurring from posters here in this forum.

I think we can take it as a given that the blue and black models will show scratches more than natural or white, they probably are no easier to scratch though.

The bigger question is how easily does this coating scratch full stop? We have had coloured aluminium on phone sides for years and yes if you do scratch them it shows, but it is not super easy to do so. If the titanium iPhones are on that level then I am ok with it. If on the other hand they scratch up like an old iPod classic or that horrible glossy black phone they released back in the day then that is a different matter!

I am not seeing any indication that they scratch easily though, just that if the do scratch it will show more?
