Dear Community,
I happily purchased my iPhone 16 pro on launch day coming from an 11. Two weeks later I notice that the display has some sort of colour gradient. On the upper side near the notch it’s warmer and on the lower side near the port it’s getting colder. I noticed it when watching a video with white background and especially with greyscales. I today went to the Apple Store to get my iPhone replaced. They saw the issue and immediately issued me a new device, but now guess what: The exact same issue again.

Try it for yourself! It’s especially noticeable with night shift and True Tone on. Open the pdf file I attached and align it the way I did (one grey bar just beneath the notch and the other one just above virtual home button). Then you can see that the upper grey tone is a red-ish grey and the lower one a colder green-it’s grey. Please also try scrolling up and down, all pages are the same and use the exact same color. Is it just me or are those two different grey tones…Also try turning the display 180°, the problem remains, just upside down. You can also try it with a video with white background and you’ll see different temperatures of white.

Is it something that can be fixed with a software update?? I will go to the Apple Store tomorrow again. Maybe some of you have some advice for me :) Thanks

Welcome to the iPhone 12,13,14,15 and 16. Oh you missed most of those 🤣

EDIT: I tried it and the test card didn’t show me anything more than I was already aware of. Top part is slightly warmer than the bottom part. I’ve returned panels over worst type of issues in the past including screen uniformity, but the current panel although not perfect is acceptable for me. But yeah that test card is a good one to use. I’ll hazard a guess 90% of panels won’t be perfect to my eyes, then again no OLED will be. Especially running these type of test cards on OLED tv panels. 🤣

EDIT 2: just ran this test side by side on another iPhone 16PM. Same results. Got to give to Samsung they are very consistent now. 👍🏼
