The ideal test is to measure write performance when the drive is mostly full.

All SSDs will write somewhat slower when mostly full, but QLC drives typically crater to <5% of peak write performance.


One can also try to decode the model number of the NAND chip, but Apple often sources unique models without public specifications.

Fewer reviews take the time to study long-term usage, like when the phone is full, even though loads of us use phones in that state.

I just used 3uTools and mine says my iPhone 16 Pro 512GB is a Toshiba TLC NVMe. So I'm not exactly sure how some people are saying it's a QLC, maybe those that have a 256GB and lower can check their device too?

My 16PM 1TB has TLC, so I think this thread is bunk.
TLC, S5E, from Toshiba.
Can you screen shot that? I’m trying to see and show to this to others. Thanks for sharing. It’s been hot topic last couple weeks.
