Apple increased the base price of the iPhone pro max by $100.

Clearly this is a strategic move to increase the base iPhone pro $100 next year.

How do you guys feel about paying $1099 for the base iPhone 16 pro next year?

If you mean Apple will get rid of 128gb option, make 256gb the base storage and charge $1099 (no change in price compared to all previous pro's at this storage) than yes you're right..

I am annoyed that am being forced to buy 256GB SKU at its original MSRP.

I have zero use for 256GB storage. My 13 Pro Max has used 36GB so far.

I could have kept the Photos from my 11 Pro Max and 8 Plus locally with 128GB storage.

With 256GB storage I could have kept nearly all my Photos starting with the original iPhone 16 years ago.

You say that increasing the price for a device that doesn't exist by $100 is clearly a strategic move to increase the price by $100. For said device. That doesn't exist.

Genius. Anything else?

Most people probably won’t have a problem since it’s timed with a new form factor and zoom lens.

I do wonder how many people naturally pick 128GB vs. 256GB though. For the 128GB users, it is effectively a price hike.

At a certain point it’s more costly for them to produce the 128 GB phones if their reports show most users are choosing 256 GB or up anyway.

I agree with that but I'm forced to spend $100 extra to get the new base storage SKU.

Previously they give you a storage bump at the same MSRP as the previous base storage SKU.

It now appears that Apple found a creative way to induce you to spend more without changing price points.

Would be nice it coincided with my currency strengthening to its 2 decade high.

Yeah, I see what you’re saying. They used to say this is the base price with the base storage, and if the base storage goes up that’s just the new lowest storage option for the same price. And now they’re keeping the price of the first upgrade level of storage, and the size of that upgrade level of storage, but making it the base storage size which effectively is a price increase. I feel you.

Even if the 15PM came in a 128GB model for $1099, I still would have bought the 256GB for $1199 — so no price increase. If the Pro base comes with 256GB storage, I’m guessing that price will match this year’s price — $1099.

The 16 Pro should start at $999 it's the best price most people I assume get the 128GB and just get iCloud like me. I'm not sure if I'll get the 16 Pro if it increases in price. I might just get the base model 16 if it's $799
