Hello,

Just bought iPhone 16 pro max and transferred all my data from Samsung phone.

I noticed that my iPhone restarting at random times. It freezes and Apple logo appears and restarting…

Anyone with the same problem?

Have you downloaded the firmware update? Almost as soon as I got my 16 Pro Max up and running, I was asked to update to iOS 18 Version 22A3354

If that isn't helpful, then I think you have a phone problem. Contact Apple support.

If it were me, I would back it up and then do a factory reset, and then watch it for a few hours to a day, or whatever you believe necessary to see if it the issue is going to reoccur or not. If all is well, consider whether or not to restore the backup, the concern being there is something corrupted in the data and restoring the backup puts the problem back on the phone.

If the problem occurs after the reset to factory without any data, then I would assume faulty device, as @jetsam suggests.

When you are comfortable in the observation that the problem is gone, then update the OS. My concern with doing the update while the issue may still be present is that the phone might restart during the update process, and also that the problem may still be present after the update.

I have done the update. I’ve noticed also other people have the same issue according to Google search.

I will try to back up my data and reset the phone factory defaults and trying starting fresh

Is it still doing it after the update? If all is well now, I wouldn’t reset. That was only a step to possibly fix the problem. If the update fixed the problem, no need to reset.

I analyzed the full panic logs and the component is the "camera". I entered recovery mode in order to restore it with iTunes and every time an error occurs (2009 etc...)

I don't understand what's wrong with this device really....

edit: i managed to restore the iOS. I will check within the day for any crashes...

This is happening to me too, latest update update and everything and have factory reset it once. Plus the UI has some mini-freezes or something when scrolling fast. Ironic that my previous 2 years old Android was way smoother and stable.

I am having the same problems on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple wants me to restore my phone and see how it goes. Is this a software problem or a hardware? My iPhone 15 didn't have all the headaches. If the battery weren't so bad I would've never upgraded to the 16, now this.

I also have random restarts on my 16 Pro Max. Apple wants me to send in the device but given its still so early in the launch I might have no phone for a few weeks.

I'm going to try a factory restore for now, upgrading to 18.1 beta didn't seem to change anything.

Having similar issues, looked at my logs. At least in my case seems to be springboard timeout depending on iconservicesagent. Where iconservicesagent has crashed repetitively and eventually got throttled to the point that springboard was hung waiting on it for over 3 minutes. See also iPhone 16 Pro Freezes and Restarts @ Apple's Community Forum. I did notice a blank/undrawn icon in control center at one point before a crash. Trying a restore myself to see if it fixes it.

Update Apple said I need to replace my iPhone 16 PM it’s been 4 days and no update on when it should be shipped. So far the whole phone has been glitching. I feel like I’m running a bad beta version on my phone. Apple has been no help. That’s sad to say.

I ended up with express replacement, requested on 6 days ago but apple pay had credit card hold issue where apple couldn't see the credit card hold so had to do it again, second time took 2 days from authorizing to getting a cross shipped replacement iPhone.

New phone has been solid so far with no random restarts. Previously one most definitely had hardware issues

My iphone 16 pro max started to do this 2 days ago. It happened once and then it happened just now. Both time my phone was in standby without doing everything. The frustrating part is it’s just happening right after the 15 days return Window. What should I do?

I’ve got the same issue with my iphone 16 pro max. It restarted only when i put it in the pocket or the bag. Here is the panic log. Does anyone know if it’s hardware or software issue.

iOS 18.1 is supposed to fix the restart issue of the iPhone 16 pro series. It´s in the release notes. We’ll see on Monday.
