With rivals like the X200 Pro and POCO now adopting solid-state electrolyte batteries, Apple might follow suit with the iPhone 17 Air. Solid-state batteries are known for their superior energy density, faster charging, and enhanced safety compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries.

If Apple takes this leap, the iPhone 17 Air could deliver significantly better battery life and durability—but it might come with a noticeable price increase. Could this be the breakthrough we've been waiting for, or will the cost dampen the excitement?

What are your thoughts—are you ready to pay a premium for this next-gen battery tech?

They’re not pricing it anywhere near $1,599. It will be around the price of the Plus.

There are commercialization bottlenecks with the tech. And this is from the best of the best battery producers in the world, CATL.

solid state batteries are still experimental and don't perform as well as regular lithium batteries. Theres no product anywhere on earth that uses a solid state battery yet - and most assuredly, apple wouldn't be the first to use one

That part!! Apple will always wait for technology to prove itself, very rarely will they jump the gun and commit to something like that until its been proven for a few years at least.

Solid state batteries are used in plenty of things….pacemakers, RFID tags, smartwatches….
