Just got the ultraguard for my 17 pro. I’m really digging it, reminds me of the Evutec karbon si osprey case for the 6 series. Loved that case.

Those Evutec were the days; you have my attention if something similar lol. I wonder if those UltraGuards are on a Black Friday sail lol

Does it feel like a smooth plastic or more of a frosted synthesis kinda feel? Man that midnight with silver phone combo is so tempting

It's a killer combo, especially with the silver replacement buttons.

Anybody with both Paragon and dbrand grip? Cant decide between the 2 to add to my rotation of Sheath/Synthesis.. gonna sell off my torras q3 air this thing is a a slippery bar of soap.
I'll have the Grip tomorrow and have the black precise Paragon now. People were raving about the Grip so much I had to give it a try with the current sale.

yeah i really liked them on my 14 pro max but i cant get over that plateau design but still the feel in hand is so good

which skin did u get with yours?

The dBrand Grip case does live up to its name as it feels really grippy in the hand. However it is also pretty hefty too, coming in a colossal 228 grams with the leather skin attached. The leather skin is must be like 15 grams on its own, if according to Brian Tech the case with a normal skin is 48 grams. Also the camera button I feel is its weak point, as it isn’t as precise in operation than the other cases I have used, plus it’s just too easy to operate. I’ll give it a few more days with it. Oh I got some free playing cards from dBrand as well and they feel quality too !

Looking forward to your impression of the Grip. Coming from the Paragon, I hear the Grip is chunky. I think the Paragon is the perfect design for protection.

I haven’t experienced the Paragon, but I don’t find the Grip that much wider in the hand than say vs the leather cases I have been using. The grippiness of it makes you clench hold it slightly less vs the slimmer cases and still have the confidence that it won’t slip off your hand.

As above the downside of the case is its heft and not great camera control. The plateau bit I don’t mind at all. And the leather skin smells really nice. Proper cows butt leather. 🤣

😍 That is so pretty. Convinced me to pull the trigger on the Nomad Traditional Horween, too (26% discounted on Amazon). The modern leather was my daily driver on the 15PM for the longest time. (The Ryan London is going back, they did not offer me a replacement.)

What did they offer you?

Just a heads up that in my experience Nomad’s Horween leather permanently stains white MagSafe pucks. Not a major deal, but could be a deal breaker for some.

I would think you can’t help that with leather.

I’ve got both. Think I slightly prefer the Paragon at the moment, but the grip is - and has always been - one of my favourites. Can’t really go wrong.

Aren’t they like 2 different cases though that you can’t compare?

I don’t have the Grip but I would catagorize the Paragon as being minimal with minimal drop protection.

It’s not an issue with all leather cases. The Horween, while being very luxurious, has the worst dye transfer in my experience.
I‘ve had the brown and black Horween modern leather cases for my 15PM and did not notice the color transferring off the cases. But I also don’t use white MagSafe Accessories, so that might help 😅 So not an issue for me probably. But thanks for the heads up!

Great! I have a couple of Belkin chargers with a white puck and they’re both stained. Only black from now on…

I wouldn’t say the Paragon is a Sheath killer but I like it slightly better. If it only had the side texture on the back then it would be a Sheath killer. The best thing about the Paragon is how thin it is “feels” and the top and bottom lips aren’t abstruse, and that it offers 15 ft drop protection.

So will you be going 100% Paragon or going back and forth between the two?
