What's the most luxurious leather case? Are there any that cover the camera plato thing?
Never seen those before but look gorgeous.
I assume no sign of the mystery MagSafe ring?My black Sheath is showing the gray haze along the back edges 😩 guess the thing needs a bath
Been a minute since I've sniffed a fresh out of the box Vaja caseVaja plays in the luxury segment, but there are others -- Piel Frama, Noreve, Lucrin (though I have my doubts about them), Issentiel (seemingly now defunct), and other smaller names. The big designer names like LV also have some limited offerings.
I can't say with the later/latest models, but unlike a lot of "luxury" leather cases, in the past, they were actually not just "designed in…made in China" like many "nicer" brands are.
AFAIK, Vaja cases still originate from Argentina, Piel Frama from Spain, Noreve from France, etc. Or, at least they didn't roll off a mass production line from a Chinese ODM, embellished with fancy marketing to make them seem more special than they really are, like many of the better-known leather case brands.
If you read the leather case megathread, cases like Bullstrap have been exposed to be a brand that simply contracts with a Chinese manufacturer to produce cases with their branding, and mark them up with prices inflated by marketing.
That's not to say they're awful, but they're not as special as implied. And certainly not bespoke.
A brand like Nomad does the same thing, and relies on Chinese manufacturing, but at least they do design their own stuff, and it would be very hard, if not impossible to find clones of their products under a different brand name on Amazon or Aliexpress. Or have a case with a different brand label shipped in the wrong box.
I've had more than a couple Vaja cases with their Floater leather pass through my hands. They are nice, but not full MSRP nice, IMO. I bought them on sale.
The practical issues with cases like theirs is that they have to compromise in some functional aspects, like protection, to provide the experience. They are also often "open" shell designs that rely on the tension provided by integrity of the shape of the case to grip the device, and over time, they can loosen up and lose that grip or security and remain firmly attached.
I've only tried their Floater leather, and not the other types, but it's not a buttery-soft kind of leather, like the kind Horween is best known for. It is a harder wearing type that is arguably better suited to daily use, but perhaps not what some might be looking for.
Vaja used to be a fully-independent maker, and all of their cases were custom made to order, take weeks to arrive, and not for the instant gratification folks. Then, they hooked up with Case-mate, for US distribution at least, and increased production enough to provide ready-made stock in the more popular colors.

Thankfully, noI assume no sign of the mystery MagSafe ring?
You mean on the case?If you have read my posts the condom ring doesn’t bother me
Cute little thin black case. Not bad for money but inconsistent orange peeking out all around erratically at front.
it doesn’t bother me at all looks wise. sometimes when i swipe up like to close out an app, i run across the hump. it bothered me the first few times. but like anything else, you get used to avoiding it. it’s a really nice case. The PR is tempting. How’s the camera control button, does the bump get in the way at all?
yes i purchased the pro max button kit just to get the orange cc button. i do believe all the buttons they sell are the same size. just email support to make sure. one thing or sure, pr has great support and they have always shipped right away. Both look great! I have the PR7 coming Monday. I assume the orange CC button was part of another case order or special kit?
Also, do the buttons for the gen 5 work for the 7? The website has the button sets grouped together for gen 7/6/5, so I assume so, but wanted to check before ordering.
Thanks, I appreciate the info. I’m curious to try it out, hoping it may be more comfortable than my Mous cases, which I like a lot, but could be improved by being thinner and more rounded.it doesn’t bother me at all looks wise. sometimes when i swipe up like to close out an app, i run across the hump. it bothered me the first few times. but like anything else, you get used to avoiding it. it’s a really nice case.
imo it’s much nicer than the mous. i think this will be your choice for a protective case. Thanks, I appreciate the info. I’m curious to try it out, hoping it may be more comfortable than my Mous cases, which I like a lot, but could be improved by being thinner and more rounded.
