iPhone 17 is on the way. I still can't decide if I want to upgrade from my 16PM or not. There's no standout reason to, other than why not.

I'll be upgrading from my recently-damaged iPhone 11.

When are the phones available in the stores? Is it tomorrow (Friday)?

I'm not buying online - I want to see the entire range of colours in real life.

Kinda tempted to go with 17 Pro, despite all the issues it has one thing I need: PWM switcher. I don't want to buy iPad since it is too large, and iPhone is my main device, want to get rid of that nasty eye strain, as well as finally get all the camera features I might be missing. Rn weighting in whether to do that upgrade or not. My 11 Pro would be going nowhere - a decent 2nd phone wth 2x optical zoom, gotta be fun to test digital 2x and optical 2x side-by-side

Getting the base model first time ever since buying iPhones. Just have to choose if it will be sage or lavender

I'm afraid that the same disaster will happen regarding touchscreen problems..... because LG screens are installed again
Saw multiple Korean sources saying the 17 Pro will be Samsung globally and BOE only in China. That’s what I’m hoping for too.

Stuck with a 16 Pro Max with a bad LG screen that even a budget Samsung phone looks better.

Are you covered by warranty or Apple Care in order to have it replaced? Surely if it's that bad it can't be normal?

I am very sensitive to screen issues

My phone doesn’t can’t reach that 1 nit brightness nor go as bright as a 16 Pro with a Samsung panel, so clearly something is wrong right? And the whites dims as soon as you look at it from a different angle

This wasn’t the case with my 15 Pro Max. With that phone I thought it’s screen was incredible.

Apple Authorized Service providers in my country ran their stupid diagnostic test(going through the red green blue and white colors and some gradients) and said there’s nothing wrong with the device.

And when I pointed out other devices of the same model are brighter they just said don’t compare, every OLED is different.

I really can’t do anything about except resell at a loss

So yeah I’m just gonna trade this in for a 17 Pro after using it for 3-4 months. That too after checking if the panel lottery is acceptable.

Else I’m going to Samsung, at least they use their own panels and not a ****** OLED supplier and hoping consumers don’t notice

To be honest, it's now come to a point for me to wait until it's out of software support or broken.

That's my plan as well. Had Pro models since the 12 Pro but now the base 17 has ProMotion and I honestly don't take enough photos to need the best camera possible, I'm happy to go for the base model and save £300.

Yeah same here. I took a careful look at how many pics I really make each month. And most of them are landscape, animals or food pictures. I doubt that I need a Pro for that. My main reason for Pro was also always the screen.
