I currently own a iPhone 15 Pro that is two years old and it has 820 charge cycles and 88% maximum capacity, I got to say in terms of battery life, the 15 Pro was not great and my drain rate with continuous usage on like ChatGPT is 1% for every 3-4 minutes or 10-12% per hour. This is not new since with every iPhone I have owned XS, 11 Pro, 12 Pro and 13 Pro, the 15 Pro is still not great but people keep saying the 15 Pro's were not good for battery life, but I wonder if that is universal and that I have a flawed model? When I check the battery usage, the statistics show very typical % drains for the timing I have used those apps in the day. Should I upgrade to the new iPhone 17 Pro? Will I see much difference between my 15 Pro and the new 17 Pro or should I just replace the battery instead? For me, I use my device a lot through out the day, sometimes for 2h window sometimes. The main issue with Apple's advertising of battery life is that for real world usage, it's far less than what it shows. They say 23h of video playback but that is just without sound or anything else running, in real world, it is more like 5-6h at best. With location services, Google's unfortunately power hungry apps and the fact that the 15 pro seems to get kind of warm sometimes just by charging or multitasking makes battery drain far faster than what expect from a phone. Yes better than the olden days but still not quite there yet and today apps are heavier now which can sometimes partly offset battery gains. Overall, I do want peoples advice, will I see a massive battery improvement with the 17 Pro or would it feel only modestly better? Battery life seems to vary heavily by usage. I am not upgrading for speed, but rather for battery and efficiency. In the mean time, I wonder if disabling all location services widgets in the widgets page could help?
