Does anyone know where I might could find the .ipsw file for 2.2.1 anywhere else than iTunes? I am trying to downgrade back from 3.0 to 2.2.1 to try something out that won't work with 3.0. Are the files saved in iTunes somewhere already? Thank you

In a Mac you'll find it in Home Folder|Library|iTunes|iPhone Software Updates.
Dunno about win but yes it is there. Try a search using parts of the phrase iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw
Oh.. its for 3G. For G1 replace iPhone1,2 with iPhone1,1

I have heard it is quite difficult to downgrade. I heard you can't put your phone into dfu mode if you are running os x 10.5.6! Is there a way to downgrade back to 10.5.5?
I would use a windows computer. I have 10.5.5 but I couldn't get quickpwn to recognize my iphone when I downgraded. I used my PC at work and the downgrade worked on the first try.
well i am using a mac but i do have a pc that is not hooked up to the internet, can it still work without internet?
