I don't know the official way to report a bug, and I wasn't sure if anyone else had seen this (a quick browse of the forum didn't show it). With the change in 2.2 for the screen for entering the passcode (placing the emergency call button where the switch to numbers button used to be) I have found that if I hit the emergency phone button at all I can not enter the valid passcode on my phone. It says wrong passcode at the top even though its the exact same passcode I always enter. A workaround is that you can reboot the device and as long as you don't hit the emergency call button you can enter your passcode just fine. Hopefully if your having this problem you get to read this before you accidentally lock out your phone.

/edit - i forgot to mention this is with an 8g original iphone

Same issue

I have the same problem and the same workaround works for me. I am lucky I didn't try entering it too many times or it would have wiped my device clean after 10 failed attempts. I am on hold with Apple iPhone tech support right now telling them about the issue. They are creating a case number for me. The workaround is simple, but the bug should be fixed. I thought I was going crazy this morning because I couldn't unlock my phone with the correct passcode ;)

FWIW, I have the 16GB phone and the passcode is required by the Exchange setup through my company.

iPhone passcode bug does exist

Hi,

I'm 99% sure this is exactly what happened to me this morning. I've had to completely restore the iPhone, losing all data in the process. V. annoying.

When I restored I also recieved the 2.2 update from Apple. Maybe this will fix it. I haven't taken exact steps to reproduce the bug, but I cannot replicate it from a clean install (incl. the new update 2.2.)

Maybe it's fixed. Either way, I'll be too busy typing in all my contacts again ... to test.

2.2.1 Also

I just updated to SW version 2.2.1 this morning.

The bug still exsists!

Not a big problem but on occation I accidentaly hit the emergency button and that will require a reset.
