IPHONE 2g: 1.1.4 version

Hi,

Need advice on updating and how to update and the best version to update on my Iphone 2g.

Currently have an Iphone 2g it is on version 1.1.4 (4A102).

I live in the UK, but the IPhone is US version.

Any advice on updating to the latest update?

Also the model number and serial number what is this used for?

My advice would be to download the 3.0.1 ipsw for the phone from here:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750

The filename is "iPhone1,1_3.0.1_7A400_Restore.ipsw"

You will also need to download 3.0 for the unlock:
"iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw"

(Downloading it with Firefox is better than with Safari.)

Use iTunes to update, you'll need to use option-restore on a mac or shift-restore on windows, then navigate to the file.

Then follow this tutorial to jailbreak and unlock the phone

Notes:
- skip step 2 as you will already have done it
- although you've gone to 3.0.1, you'll use the 3.0 ipsw file in step 5
- if redsn0w hangs at "waiting for reboot", unplug the usb cable for a couple of seconds then plug it back in again

Would this work if the Iphone 2g is Unlocked or jailbroken....

As i think my Iphone is jailbroken
