iPhone 2G battery wires

Please correct me if I am wrong at any point.

I looked around online and from what I've read, if you lift the red, black, and white wires from the system board you will need to buy a new system board.

Yet, in the process of replacing the battery, you need to separate the wires anyway and solder the wires from a new battery.

What I don't understand is, why is a new system board necessary if you accidentally lift the wires? Is it possible to remove the residue and the broken tips of the wires from the soundboard and replace it with a new battery?

The reason for asking is my black and white wires accidentally separated from the soundboard as I was repairing my screen, and I'm wondering if this is still repairable without having to buy a new system board.

Where and who said you could not repair that?



AFAIK, even the older 2G iPhones were lead free - meaning that you "SHOULD" repair the wires using lead free solder. I suppose it's more difficult to get decent electronic grade lead free solder, and it melts at a higher temperature - making it slightly more difficult, and requiring a soldering iron calibrated to a different spec...

But certainly possible. looks like a 30 second job to fix that!




Now, in that pic, you didn't include a pic of the pads (where the wires go). if the pads are lifted from the board - it can certainly still be repaired, but the repair procedure would get more complicated requiring epoxy and other common special repair tools.



My vote = easily repairable.

djltoronto i'm sorry but that is a bit of bull crap that you have to use lead free solder to solder the wires back on to the board. I have an Iphone 2G and i have soldered the battery wires a fair few time without lead free solder and my phone has always been fine and never let me down.
From my own experience you can re-solder the battery wires back on to the board and yes it will be fine. Also to djltoronto i don't mean any offence to your comment.

I never once said you HAD to use Lead free.
