Hi Guys,

I am trying to restore my friends first generation iphone to 1.1.1.
It was an imported and unlocked phone and somehow he has updated it by mistake and it no longer functions as it should do. When he gave it to me all it would show is the itunes icon and usb lead screen. I have read through the forums and managed to restore it to 1.1.4 but I cannot get itunes to recognise that the phone is connected when i try to restore it to 1.1.1 after installing earlier versions of itunes etc...
I used Ziphone to jailbreak it and unlock it, however it does not let me make calls at all and does not recognise that I have a simcard in it. I have installer on the phone and have installed anysim but when i view the first screen on the phone, the icon for anysim does not show, although it shows in installer that anysim is installed.
So I have a few questions that may help me get the phone back to 1.1.1 or if there is a way to progress to 2.1 etc... so that the phone can be used to make and receive calls.

1, Is there a way to restore the iphone from 1.1.4 to 1.1.1?
2, Is it possible to update to 2.1 from 1.1.4?
3, Is there any other software that I can use to restore the phone to 1.1.1?
4, Does anyone know why the anysim icon does not show on the main screen to let me sim unlock the phone?
5, Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Dez

Thanks for your reply 'Tallest Skil', but could you be a little more informative.

I have limited knowledge of jailbreaking etc.. and would really appreciate it if you could give me a step by step guide to your explanation.

I am using windows vista by the way and not a mac, so i am not sure that Pwnage tool will work for me.

Thanks!
