Hello, my friend gave an iphone that is locked to emergency screen. Now i need to restore it fresh and unlock it with quickpwn...but problem is i dont know which version the phone is originally on. It could be 1.02 or maybe some other version. If it is on 1.02 it needs to be virginized but im not sure which version the phone is on?
Please guide me...

I am going to go and say read about it first (get to know what everything does) and then plan on doing it. Many people's problem's rise from mis reading.

So, that being said, I suggest you to read the thread which is linked in my signature since the scenario you describe is a Fall 2007 scenario which is *very* outdated and describing everything here would take a lot of time and text. Muh easier to refer you to an already written thread, like this one.

Methods have changed between now and then.

Connect it to iTunes and let it update to current firmware. Then it's all easy, you can jailbreak and unlock with Dev Team tools QuickPwn or Pwnage.
