I originally posted this in accessories, but now that I think about it this would be a better place, so I'll just copy and paste what I have

So, I think I know the answer to this question, but I'm putting it up here just to make sure. I bought a universal dock about...2 weeks ago, and its been charging up my iphone just fine until I put it in this morning to find out that it no longer charged. I fidgeted around with it to find that when I hold it upright it starts charging again. Its charging fine when just plugged into the usb cable, its just the dock thats causing it when the iphone is in the dock and resting the way it should be.

Right now the solution is that I have it in the 80 gig classic dock which holds it upright nicely, but I'd like to know for sure that its the dock, and if anyone can solve this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If this is any help, I have 2.0.2 jailbroken, but its worked for a day or so with it on there.

Also, the really strange thing is that the remote to the dock still can control it. But it can't be the usb cable, because like I said before when plugged directly into the cable it charges fine....can someone help with this at all, or do I have a mystery on my hands?

Please tell me you are actually using the iPhone insert? If not, that is your problem. Otherwise, it sounds like the dock or your dock connector if busted or has a short.

thats the thing...I'm not using the iphone instert anymore, because when it went back just a tiny bit from completely upright to its natural laying position, thats when the charging and syncing became impossible. At that angle it was still controllable by the remote control though.

Right now since the iphone dock can't keep it upright like it needs to be to charge, I have the 80 gig classic dock insert with it right now...it doesn't fit the best, but it keeps it from going back, and thus charging it.

(sorry if that was mega confusing, if so I'll try and make a more descriptive post)
