I've never jailbroken or unlocked my phone. I've had it for 2 years now and it quit getting any cell signal last Thursday for no apparent reason. I can't make or receive calls. Text doesn't work either, but Wifi works and all other apps work.

I've reset and restored the phone. It's still not working.

I've called AT&T and they had me test out the SIM card on my old phone. It works on the old phone, so it's not the SIM card. They told me to take the phone in to a genius bar but the nearest apple store is 2 hours away from me and I won't be able to go for a couple of weeks.

Anybody have any idea what could be wrong with it? Is there anything I can try in the meantime?

Thanks.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but on any iPhone is it possible to make calls with no signals but connected to Wi-Fi?

And I don't think there's much you can do. Good luck at the Apple Store.

You must have some extra special ties with Mr. Jobs because the iPhone hasn't even been out for two years......

No, but using VOIP service with WiFi would be very nice! My old Nokia Communicator used to be able to do this and I had about a $40 bill a month because I have WiFi at work and at home! I had the lowest plan of minutes (200 I think) and unlimited texting. Now on my iPhone I can't do this and have a $130 bill a month. There was an app on Cydia that allowed this. It was meant for iPod touch (you obviously had to get a mic and use a headset all the time). I don't know how it worked, as I never tried it.
