iphone 2G on 3.1 firmware, want to unlock

Hey
So i got someones old Iphone 2G running 3.1 and want to use it now.
It's got the original owners sim in it and does everything a touch can do at the moment.
I have an ATT sim (no data plan) and want to know how i can use it as a phone (calls and txts..with no data)
I use a macbook pro, is there a hack for 3.1 yet? or do i have to downgrade

google up iclarified. go to finder (at the bottom left) and then tutorials, then iphone. look for their "unlock 2G iphone" tutorials. everythings there and yes, you will be able to use the phone without having to buy the internet (unlock)
