Hi all,

My brother gave me his old 2G now that he upgraded to a 3GS. I also have a 2G (jailbroken and unlocked) except my wifi chip is broken so i thought it would be great if i could use his instead.

Before giving it to me, he "erased and reset" all content. Now the iphone is in DFU mode.

I had previously jailbroken my other 2G with pwnage tool, custom bundle, and restore through itunes. But now this doesn't work on the new one as the "SIM is not supported".

How can i force install the package? Is there any other way around it?

Thanks.

Restore it to the latest iphone firmware thru itunes.
Then run blackrain to jailbreak and activate.

you obviously don't understand my post. I can't do anything in iTunes. It says SIM not supported. No options for anything. Obviously if i could restore then I would have just done so with the custom bundle from Pwnage.

Great attitude towards someone that try's to help you:rolleyes:
I was going to but nevermind.
Figure it out yourself.
I dont think you have a clue what DFU mode is. If the phone was entered into DFU you would NOT be seeing the message sim not supported genious.

The reason he doesn't understand your post is that your post doesn't make any sense. Your phone does not even have to have a SIM in it to put it in DFU mode and restore. If your phone is in DFU mode, then its screen will be entirely blank and when you connect it to your computer iTunes will say "iTunes has detected a phone in Recovery Mode" and prompt you to restore. If this is not the case, then you are not in DFU mode.

woah guys take a chill pill.

I didn't know you could plug your iphone in without a SIM card installed. Never even bothered trying that as it didn't occur to me. In any case, I managed through Redsn0w even with my new SIM in.

Sorry, I thought DFU mode was when you get the cable and the itunes graphics with the "emergency only" slider. Anyway that was the screen I had. I read another post somewhere and this whole time thought that's what it meant (had a 2G since launch day in the USA)

Thanks for well, biting my head off. ANd for your help.

You are the one who asked for help and then responded rudely to Applejuiced when he gave you correct advice, telling him that he "obviously" didn't understand what you were talking about. You don't then get to complain that you are being mistreated when people object to your rudeness and tell you that, on the contrary, you are the one who doesn't know what you're talking about.
