Hi,
My iPhone 2G speaker is kind of muffled and not that loud and I was thinking of replacing it, but I was wondering if I can replace it with a 3G loudspeaker instead of the 2G one. Does anyone know if the 3G speaker will work on the 2G?
Thanks

It might be a good DIY project but very dangerous as the chipset between the iPhone 3G and 2G is different. (2G is divided into 2 chipsets while the 3G is one whole bundle)

That is an interesting idea. I hate the speaker on mine but don't want to get a 3G or 3GS because of the increase in data rate but don't have 3G within 200 miles of my house.

different designs , look at any teardown pictures

I heard you can use a needle to punch holes in the dust membrane to get better sound, but do this at your own risk.
