I just bought an unlocked original 4GB iPhone. The previous owner has it jailbroken and unlocked and is using it with Tmobile. Now that i have the phone, i want to sync it with my iTunes. I can sync the applications and my contacts, but when i try to sync the music, it says that i have to restore it because this iPhone has already been synced with another computer. Is there a way I can get everything synced without restoring the phone?

I bought this phone for a friend and I am experimenting with it so I can teach her how to keep it unlocked. Should I restore it and unlock it all over again on her computer? Or is there a way to go around this? Thanks in advanced.

Just restore to 2.2.1 and follow our guide here to jailbreak/unlock your phone. Happy unlocking. But there should be a option to erase and sync with the current library. :)

No offense but you didn't answer my questions.

That sucks then.
You might have to redo the whole restore and unlock again.
Make sure you have a good backup of the phone contacts and settings so you can sync it back when its done.

The thing is I am going to send this phone to my girl. I want her to upload her own contacts and her own music on there. Is there a way I can unlock for her, but can she sync with her iTunes?

You can do a restore, and then unlock it through bootneuter via pwnage tool, or you can download bootneuter through cydia. And when she gets the phone she can plug it into her computer for the first time and proceed as normal.

P.S. Why doesn't my previous answer work for you? It is really simple to restore/reunlock, and then you can do all the music syncing you want. :)

Why won't my answer work? You can easily restore/reunlock the device, and then you will be able to sync all the music you want.

Can I unlock and not sync my library and let it sync with someone elses?

Yes no syncing is required for jailbreak/unlock. Because pwnage tool/quickpwn "hacktivates" the phone, so no activation/iTunes syncing is necessary.

The guide that you sent me, would it work with 2.2.1?

That guide works fine, or we also have one here. Quickpwn is fairly straight-forward, and if you have any problems, you can always ask your question here in this thread. :)

Hey I really appreciate it. I just don't want to brick the phone. I am being extra cautious and stuff.
