Alright so I got a 2nd gen Iphone from a freind. I have ATT but I didnt want to pay for the data plan.

I jail broke and unlocked the Iphone and it was working perfect for about 3 days. Then one day I woke up and it was dead, when I went to plug it into the charger it wouldnt charge. I tried the computer usb, the car charger and the wall charger and no luck, then I found a ipod charger I have had for years. It is a generic one and is pretty darn cheap. That one seems to charge it perfect.

But after charging and trying to plug it into my computer Itunes wont recognize it, neither will my computer. I am running a HP with Vista installed(I know, I know im saving up for a 27 Imac i7). my computer says that it is an unknown usb device and that it has malfunctioned.

also it works perfect except for the battery life is only about 4 hours with the sim card installed. but when I take the sim card out and use it as an Ipod it can last me almost 4 days of heavy useage. I have contacted alot of people about this problem and no one can really tell me what the problem is.

If anyone could help I would appreciate it EXTREMELY. thank you very much for all of your time and help

Already did that...

Well I really appreciate you giving me some feed back, but its been like this for about a month and a half now. I have done the the reboot and tried doing the unlock process over again. but no luck.

I have let it compltely die then recharge and no luck.
I have no idea what has been going on.

Try holding the power and home button till the phone goes off and when its starting up, let go of the power button but continuing holding the hold button. The iPhone must be connected to your pc during this whole process.
