Iphone 3.0 sms background

ok...so two things.
a) is it possible to put an image background in your sms screen via ssh on the 3.0 firmware and if so, where is the file located?

b) concerning .png files.... can i just use any image file like .jpg and rename .png? or is there a specific file conversion im gonna have to do?

Can't help you with 1st question. I know both incoming and outgoing balloons and send button can be modded, not sure about background image.

You can just rename a .jpg to .png and it will work (or so it does with Mac)

i use mac and i cant seem to get the .png files from my iphone to preview on my computer so that i know what exactly the file image is for. is this because apple has done something to the files? is there a way to view them?

No, the original files from phone won't preview (and I don't know why). Easiest way to see the modded graphic files is Preview.
