Hey guys,

I've been jailbreaking and unlocking phones for a while now, but I've run into a small issue here. I can't get the iphone 3g to recognize a gophone sim. I've read just about everything I can find about it, some people say you have to change the APN... but I'm assuming that's JUST for data and some people say you need to call in and change the IMEI... which i have no clue about.

Just wondering if someone out there could point me in the right direction.

Thanks a ton!
Arisian

ps, 'Activate Iphone was NOT selected... as usual'

Last month, I went to AT&T and got a sim card so I could activate a REAL GoPhone. I activated it online and then took the sim and placed it in my 3G iPhone. It actually activated the phone and the message that the iPhone was activayed flashed on the screen. It will even activate the phone after a restore. No jailbreaking or unlocking was needed for mine.

I didn't need to change any settings for this to happen. 3.0 does block data on non iPhone plans so it would take some changes to get data to work on 3.0 using a GoPhone sim.

Not sure any of this will help you though.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately, I'm not sure if we fall into the same bucket. Oh well, just wondering why it would list my phone number in itunes but not provide any cell service. Im doing this for a friend who already had a gophone that Im guessing she bought at walmart or something.

Thanks again,
Arisian

things I should have known YESTERDAY!!!

so now I feel like a big dufus.

That being said, I have just been informed that its a Net10 sim (not gophone) which completely changes my question... but not really

sorry for the bit of misinformation
