iphone 3.1.2 infinite boot loop & crashing SB

I know this has been asked a lot, but I feel that my situation is a little different.
So, I just got a new phone today. 3gs, 3.1.2 with old bootrom, jb and unlocked with blacksn0w. anyways, so I was customizing my phone and all of that, but first thing i did was to check Cydia to make sure it had my SHSH. Which it didnt... So i clicked the button to make my life easier. So, then I was trying to get tethering to work, and was having some problems, so I reset network settings and it threw my phone into the infinite boot loop. so i tried re-running blackra1n to try to force it out of the boot loop, I tried iReb, iRecovery... and in total I used blackra1n like 4 times, and iReb a couple times, and finally got it to turn on. So now my phone is on, BUT my springboard crashes everytime. So I restart my SB, but it always crashes. Is there something I could do to work around that? Or, should I just turn my phone off again and try to force it out of the boot loop if it happens again and hope it fixes my SB problem?
I would just rejailbreak with 3.1.2, but I'm not sure if my blobs are saved yet, because I just barely clicked to save them maybe.... 2 hours ago?? I am unlocked right now (I dont really need it, but it would be nice to keep) and dont want to update to 3.1.3 unless I really have to.

Hm... I just checked my Cydia, and it says I have SHSH's for the 3.1.3 OS, but not the 3.1.2. Why would it have a 3.1.3, if I havent updated to 3.1.3?

You can no longer store 3.1.2 SHSH since Apple quit signing it what almost a month ago now or thereabouts.

Sounds like some research and reading is in order.

Yeah, thank you. After some reading I figured out that the SHSH had nothing to do with what f/w you are on. I figured if I was on 3.1.2, and I made my life easier, it would give me an SHSH for the 3.1.2... but I was very wrong.

Anyways, I finally got my phone going again... but I would prefer not using blackra1n because I have just had too many problems with it. I was wondering if since my phone is already jailbroken on 3.1.2 can I rejailbreak with redsn0w on a custom 3.1.2 ipsw? pwnagetool doesnt work, right?

You can use redsn0w if your phone is on 3.1.2. Go to iClarified and get a tutorial and study it. Skip the part about restoring before using Redsn0w. Just start at the part where you use Redsn0w to jailbreak. Make sure you have the 3.1.2 IPSW downloaded.

Really the only thing that confuses me is the new SHSH stuff. So for just a re jb it doesn't matter if I don't have my 3.1.2 on cydia right? That's only when I want to fully restore to apple firmware? Do I understand that right?

I told you how to JB your 3GS. I suggest you get a tutorial from iClarified or Hackintosh for the precise steps to follow. Again, skip the restore part in the beginning.

I also suggested some reading or research.

I have an adversion to spoon feeding people who have an adversion to using Google to do some reading and research.

I will leave you to look up your SHSH questions on your own or read some of the numerous other threads here that have the answers.

Hi, I jailbreaked my iphone 3gs (I have a recent model, with the new bootrom, so I did only a tethered jailbreak) with blackra1n and now I had to shut it down and of course, like I don't know how many people out there, I'm stuck in the restore mode. I tried to run blackra1n again, again, again since several days, since a week. My phone is not booting again. I tried one hour ago with redsn0w to "just boot" it, but no way, it didn't boot.

I've tried blackra1n in both DFU and recovery mode. In both cases after I click "make it rain" and get the popup, and Geohot picture disappears, the iphone doesn't boot again. Even if I wait hours it doesn't boot. :-(

I tried to restore to 3.1.2 with itunes, following the guides... yes I edited my /etc/hosts and in some guides they tell to use gs.apple.com 74.208.10.249, some tell to use 74.208.105.171 so I'm wondering which one is the correct IP, I tried both of them and in both cases I was not able to restore and got the popup that my device is not eligible. I guess because my SHSH is not on Saurik server, what a pity...

So now I'm wondering if you can suggest me what to do.

Do you know a way to boot my iphone again? I read many topics about the blackra1n rejailbreak boot problem, some of them say that solved it by trying 8 hours, some said you have to try again and again, here in this thread I read that tmatthews14 tried with iReb (this tool was supposed to be only for 2g, 3g, not 3gs, why did you use this??) several times and it booted again... so it seems to me there is not a clear solution.

Can you suggest me how to proceed to use my jailbreaked 3.1.2 iphone again?

I waited and read a lot, so far my iphone is still jailbreaked with blackra1n and with firmware 3.1.2, for what I know. If I can avoid to restore to 3.1.2, or 3.1.3 and just boot it again without losing my data, that would be excellent, maybe I'm too optimist but I'm sure it's possible, just need the good "combination"/suggestion ;-)
