iPhone 3G 16GB hangs on Edge and refuses to provide 3G network until phone reboot.

I have a jailbroken 2.1 firmware on my phone, however my friend who has my identical setup (3G 16GB jailbroken 2.1) has never encountered this issue. What could be the problem? Is it hardware-related or jailbroken-related? I'm thinking the latter, by either way, I'm frustrated out of my mind and demand an answer.

try restoring the phone then rejailbreak, that might work

I'm having similar issues with my email. My email won't download at work unless I reboot the phone. I visited my local genius and he said that it's a known issue that I hope is fixed in the next update. It has to do with the phone being able to reaquire the signal after switching towers. It sounds like you're having the same sort of trouble. My phone is not jailbroken however.
