Hello, I am a PC user looking to jailbreak and UNLOCK my iPhone 3G that is currently on the 3.1.2 firmware.

Is this currently possible? I understand if I wanted to jailbreak and unlock on 3.1.2 straightaway i would need a mac to use quickpwn.

No. If your iPhone is on stock 3.1.2 firmware, the baseband locks out all unlocks. You can jailbreak using blackra1n on windows.

So is there anything I can do to get this phone unlocked or do I have to wait?

What do you mean?

Piggy back sims like TurboSim. But they are not reliable.

You cannot likely ever unlock that phone, so if you need an unlocked phone, sell it and get a phone you can unlock.

By the way, all the new 3GS phone now come with a new bootrom that interferes with jailbreaking. You have to JB before you can unlock.

Use Google to do some reading.

Wait so its highly likely that my iPhone 3G 3.1.2/ modem firmware 05.11.07 can never be unlocked? Also what firmware do the 3g's come out with straight out of the box, I may pay $199 to get an out of warranty replacement.

It's unlikely there will be an unlock for the 5.11.xx baseband.

New 3GS probably have 3.1.2 and the new bootrom

The re-manufactured 3GS phones, who knows.

Why is it unlikely and whats wrong with turbo sim?

I have already answered both these questions for you !

If you are not satisfied with the answers, then use Google to research to draw your own conclusions.

Good Luck

Not to be a burn here but I was asking why its unlikely and why turbosim is unreliable, but thank you anyway. :)

I guess I have to buy a turbo sim for my iPhone 3G
