Well I've been reading that an unlock (ON WINDOWS) is unlikely. Dev Team already announced they're not making a Pwnage tool 3.1.4 for Windows so will an jailbreak/unlock for the iPhone 3G on 3.1.2 with baseband 05.11.07 be unlikely or will we just have to wait for a while?

it wont matter if your on windows...when it does come out. i believe you would just have a buddy with a mac make you the custom ipsw....just keep on waitin.
Jailbreak and unlock are two different things.
You can jailbreak any version phone on any version firmware especially a 3G.
There are several options available to Windoze users for jailbreaking right now. The most reliable is to find a friend with a Mac and have them make you a custom restore IPSW or download a trusted one from the Internet https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/803052/. You can then install the IPSW on your computer using iTunes. Or there is Blackra1n, but I can't recommend it although others will.
As I told you earlier, there is no unlock for Baseband 5.11.xx now and none expected in the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't expect an unlock for an OOTB iPhone on 3.1 or greater, or one that was updated to 3.1 through iTunes, any time soon.

Try putting the phone in recovery mode instead of DFU mode, they say then iTunes will sometimes read the phone and allow you to select the IPSW without errors.
ih8sn0w says he has some BB crash for 5.11.07 but other "Dev" teams out there are calling him a fake.
My thoughts are this, if any of the 3 AT commands that IH8Sn0w threw out to the DevTEam were actually a path to an unlock, don't you think the combined efforts of the DevTEam would at least be able to say, yes it's a possible if there was really any credibility to those 3 commands.

This is true. Musclenerd said it was fak before he released the commands, but I havent seen a reply from him / the official dev team twitter yet about sn0ws commands.

Ok, I did it too, updated my iphone to 3.1.2 through itunes without reading the consequences but now I'm confused... This is a 3gs iphone bought direct from apple under NO contract, ok it was bought in Canada and I'm trying to use it in Europe but now I'm totally confused
