hey guys,

just got myself a new iPhone 3G, couple of things that im not too thrilled about but i think my main one is the accelerometer.

i only noticed when i started to play labyrinth that the ball is constantly swaying to the left of the iphone when it is on a perfectly level surface. This is also the case when tilting in google earth.

what i would like to know is if this is the case with anyone else and if you think it would warrant maybe returning it and getting a new one?

if i would get a new one it would also be for other reasons such as the fact that my battery doesnt last that long under regular usage and it is sometimes a bit laggy and the screen can sometimes be a bit unresponsive.

also, i purchased a screen protector in apple store at the same time, if i got it replaced, do you think they would put a new screen protector on it for me?

thanks guys.

EDIT: also forgot to mention, i hardly get a 3G reception with my phone yet other people right next to me would get much faster internet speeds when on 3G

These are all common problems, though none of them are with the phone. They all lie in your head. The back of the iPhone 3G is curved, it will rock on any surface. The battery life you are experiencing is two fold. If you just got it, it needs to be run down completely a few times to set the battery sensor. And if you seriously believe that you would get Apple's usage statistics, then you need your head checked. Apple tested the 3G under absolutely perfect conditions, you will never get that in the field. There is nothing wrong with your phone.

Yes!

If the accelerometer is off they will replace it. The battery life I agree with the other poster it could be because you need to run it down. Let it actually die once or twice before charging it again. If it still doesn't help there may be a problem. Mine lasts about a day on regular use and less than a day during extensive use. No they will not replace the plastic cover. But they will have no problem replacing the phone. Just make sure you display a bit of anger tell them you just got it and tell them your friend doesn't have the same problems. I have had mine replaced... no exaduration 3 times. Because of stupid little problems. They will replace it just might have to do convincing but if you aren't happy with your product they will replace it.

thanks for that guys, I've now cycled the battery a few times and is now working alot better. Still nor too convinced about the 3g though.

O have even tried standing outside on a clear night ok a place where I get full signal and yet still no 3g, although pages don't load all that slow on gprs o still want something that the phone should be capable of doing, especially when I was still so close to a tower :)
