Hi everyone,

Currently I have an iPhone 3G, but since updating to the new firmware the connection to my work microsoft exchange won't work and the battery life is really poor, is there way how I can restore the firmware to the one that came with the phone a year ago?

You can try.

Download one of the older IPSW's and then try to restore to it.

Turn off the phone and hold the Home button and plug your phone in. iTunes will tell you it's in recovery mode. Then you Command (I think) - Click (if on windows hold Alt - Click) restore and you can chose what IPSW you just downloaded.

See if it works.

If not then there's no easy way. :D

Hi I've tried that method but it says the following:

The iPhone "NWR's iPhone" could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatitble.

I think you downloaded the incorrect ipsw for your phone. Make sure your download starts with 'iPhone1,2'.
