iPhone 3G hacks minus unlocking?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there are 3G hacks to, for example, change the status bar (i.e. the words AT&T and the time) without actually unlocking the phone. I thought this was the case back with the original iPhone/touch, but I can't find it anywhere. Is it just a plist modification?

If you are jailbroken you can download extended preferences through cydia then enter the settings app>springboard and then change the carrier name to whatever

No, you DIDN'T!!! you asked about doing it without unlocking!!

Unlocking and Jailbreaking are very different.

To answer your question no you need to jailbreak to change them
