iPhone 3G has edge internet connection, no 3G

I have an unlocked iPhone 3G running on Fido in Canada.

It's originally a Rogers phone, but it's unlocked and running on Fido. Anyway, my cellular internet only works on Edge, but doesn't work when using 3G!

I've reset the network configuration to no avail. Could there be a setting in Pwnagetool somewhere that I could have screwed this up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can you make a call or get 3G signal? If you can then restore your iPhone and set up as new.

If you don't any of the above, that means the 3G freuqnecy isn't supported by your iPhone.

FIDO runs UMTS on 850 and 1900Mhz, which is within the iPhone's supported frequencies and just like AT&T in the US.

It might be that 3G coverage doesn't exist on FIDO in the OP's area?

I am not Canadian, so I would not know, which is why I ask. Now, the only choice is that there is no 3G, or if there is, something is wrong at the baseband.
