is it still coming through while its sitting at the home screen, or while you're in the mail app?

Home screen.

i have both my yahoo account with push on, and my gmail account that fetches every 15min. yesterday i had it set to every 30min.

i noticed yesterday that while my yahoo will get pushed and show up on the home screen, if i got mail on my gmail account i wouldnt receive it till i open the mail app if the 30minutes havent passed for it to fetch it automatically.

although i did notice that sometimes when im sending something the person wont get it automatically. thats whats bothering me right now.

idk, maybe try resetting? or delete your account and re add it

OH OK, guess you dont want any help.

have fun trying to figure it out on your own.

Ha ok. I edited bc I didn't read your whole post. Restarting did not work, nor did deleting the accounts and making them again. Still fetches every 5 minutes even while locked.

Still no answer. Called apple and I restored the entire thing. Still happens...I get email instantly, which might be good but I feel like it's draining the battery..

anyone? Turns out it's not my phone only, I did a test with my girlfriends iPhone 3g as well. I sent her an email using gmail and she got it instantly (within 10 minutes). Anyone else with gmail want to try this?

I really wish that I had your 'problem'.

I want to receive my email as quickly as possible, and with my last iPhone I had it set to check for email every 5 minutes (the most frequent interval allowed by the options menu). It worked extremely well.

With the iPhone 3G however, the most frequent interval is 15 minutes, and I am finding that I sometimes don't get mail for half an hour or so.

Anyone else?

Anyone know a solution to my problem?

Sorry about that problem. Try using Gmail and see if you get the emails as quickly as I do...

Still happening using gmail. anyone else using gmail?

Update: If I send myself an email and then quickly read it on gmail.cm it shows up on the phone but not as a new. So weird...

when I didn't have service is said "cannot connect to imap.google.com" So I guess I need to switch to POP instead of imap? How do I do that?

I tried it with my gmail account; I'm not having the same issue as you. I would actually prefer if I could get the same thing to happen. I want my gmail pushed to my phone...

you don't need to swith to POP. It gives that error when it can't connect to the server. Just wait until you have service again, and you should be able to connect to the server again.

I get it. It's IMAP, POP would mean its' downloading the data to the phone where as here it is just keeping me logged into gmail.com and refreshing the page.

iPhone Fetching problem

I have a similar problem: Fetch is set to Manually, and yet it's fetching automatically. What to do? (Also a techie told me that a coupla dropped calls may be due to the phone performing the fetch function in the middle of my calls ...

Thanx for any help out there!
