Hello,

I have the iPhone 3G on AT&T.
It is unlocked, but not jailbroken.
I have unlimited SMS/MMS.

I have a pay-per-use data plan, but the iPhone does not recognize it. Which is fine.

Will I be able to send MMS on the iPhone starting September 25th?

Also, what MMS settings will i need to put into the iPhone if necessary?

I have not been able to find a solid answer anywhere else: MacRumors, it is your turn.

Thanks!

@abiyng87

Thanks for the response!

But your answer is non-conclusive.

Also, No, for some odd reason i restore my iphone 3g to the 3.0 software when it came out. I put my AT&T sim card in, and the iphone in itunes became activated, so i was like, "oh ok, i wont jailbreak it then".

Put a tmobile sim to see if it's unlocked.

Just wait for the 25th because no one knows how it will turn out if you have family messaging plan or single user texting plan. If you have a problem call AT&T on the 25th. PROBLEM SOVLED! tired of these mms threads.

if you had originally once jailbroken it and unlocked it, then ultrasn0w still has the baseband unlocked (most likely) as Apple has yet to change any baseband settings in recent updates whatsoever.

SO, what I think is happening is that the phone is registering on the AT&T network because it's an AT$T recognized SIM, but it's not recognized for any data usage because no apn or vpn settings have been configured?

correct me if i'm wrong. my experience with this is my unlocked 3G on tmobile.

I believe that would be your case. I think the true answer can be found if and when Apple does get around to breaking the ultrasn0w unlock on the baseband in a future update, if you update to that version, it should break your unlock and tell you to register it on AT&T

i'd kill to have mine unlocked and not jailbroke. mmmmm...native speeds....

Worky!

Received confirmation from a friend that MMS will indeed work without a data plan on the iPhone 3G. Cheers!

hmmmm...

That's dissapointing to hear. I'll try to get confirmation & details...

Thanks!
