Iphone 3g not syncing past months with ical

I sync my iphone 3g to my macbook using itunes and use iCal for all appointments etc. I've noticed that my iphone only has appointments and events from last month, this month and future months but nothing before. All the previous events have been deleted off the iphone. They are still available on iCal but won't sync. I've tried rebooting and starting over but same thing. Does anyone know how to get these back on the iphone?

There is an option for this in iTunes under the Info Tab

Correct.. you can "tell it" there How Many Days in the past you want it to Sync to... or NONE of the past accordingly if you DON'T Check it Off!! Very handy to keep the clutter down on some things...
