Can't seem to find this anywhere on the forums.

My 3G would randomly (about twice a day) refuse to wake from sleep. Pressing the home button or the lock button just had no effect. When the problem originally occurred, I could plug the phone into its charger and that seemed to give it the jolt it needed to finally display. But after about a week of that, even plugging it in didn't work. I took it back to the Apple store and just got a brand new one and it's giving me the same problem. What could this be? Thanks.

Funny, mine did this twice yesterday. I had to reset (hold Home+Power for 10 seconds) to get it to turn on - actually, I don't know if it was off or not but it wouldn't wake up ... Next time I'll try sending myself an email (Mme, push) to see if I can get it when the phone is in that state ...

Yeah, sometimes I can still hear a text come in or an email but the screen still won't come on. The only way for me to fix it is to reset as well. Do you have any of these apps installed?

Aim, Facebook, Pandora, PapiRiver, PapiJump, PapiPole, Sportacular, Twinkle, Weatherbug, Band.

I also thought it might have something to do with more than half of my storage space being high quality movies from iTunes?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (16GB, 2.1 PWNed): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

Actually, no - I've got about 30 apps installed ATM but none of the ones you listed.

My iPhone is almost full, like yours - only about 400MB free. I've got 56 high quality videos, including three high-quality movies. But I don't see why that would matter - it shouldn't, anyway ... :(

Same problem

ubestbsteppin, I am having the same problem. Have you had any success or more failures?

I have had this issue and uncovered the cause, in my case anyway. After a call, the iPhone puts itself back to sleep after a second if no buttons are pressed. I found that this sleep-lock error results when I click the sleep button at the same moment the iPhone is putting itself to sleep. After this, I would get phone calls and it would ring but the display wouldn't turn on. Since discovering this, I still sometimes make the same mistake, but realize it immediately and find pressing wake twice cures the issue.

No, no solutions as of yet. I find a lot of people with similar problems but they all seem to have jailbroken iphones.

i too have this problem

the phone is 3 months old, and is not jailbroken

happned for the first time today, but couldnt wake it till i got home and put it in the charger, all seemed fine till it went to sleep in the charger, and the same thing happened again , only way was to remove and then replace back into the charger to get it to come to life again

almost full ( music ) on memory

BB:(

Mine does this all the time. I hold the power button and it comes up to turn off...then I cancel it. Not sure why the phone does this. I know it upsets me though.

All you have to do was hold both buttons...it would have come back on.

i did hold both buttons, but it was dead

i thought the battery had died, but that was not the case, it did come to life for a few seconds when a text come through , but it went to sleep again , so i waited till i got home

so anyway, a small success.......

i have restored the phone back to factory , and removed all the music

it now powers up and works as intended , will give it a few days,

if it happens again, its going back to the O2 shop for a new one, lol
